Good News To Start Your Week
Maria and Her Aunt and Uncle, Elisia and Groismen
Maria is three years old and has lived in an orphanage since she was just a few months old. Her aunt and uncle stepped up to take her in. At first, going to meet her aunt and uncle was scary for Maria. Leaving the gates of the orphanage was something she had done just a few times in her life. But by the third visit, she was excited to go to the child protective offices for her visits with her family. After nearly ten consistent supervised visits, she was ready to move in with her family. With your support, Maria's room was furnished, and her family received the assistance they needed throughout the legal reunification process. Maria is now living with the loving family she deserves!
Wilson and His Brother, Alexander
Wilson is twelve years old. When it became clear he couldn’t return to his mother, his older brother stepped up and offered to take him in. He, his wife, and his daughter had been living in a one-bedroom apartment, but to make room for Wilson, they found a two-bedroom home to rent so he could have his own room. With your support, our team furnished his room. On the day of the reunification, Wilson told us he had been counting the days he spent in the orphanage, and it had been exactly two years and three months. With the biggest smile, he told us this was the day he had been waiting for and that he was so happy it had finally arrived. He was met with the sweetest welcome home party when he arrived at his home!
Emely and Her Aunt, Belkis
Emely is eight years old and was placed in an orphanage in 2023. Since her aunt, Belkis, discovered what happened to Emely, she has been visiting her, and she started the legal process to bring her home to live with her kids and husband. Throughout the legal process, Belkis quit her job to have time to attend supervised visits. She told our team that no job was worth her niece staying in an orphanage longer when she had a family that loved her. We recently visited Emely and Belkis, and she told us that she feels so lucky and happy to be with her family. We are inspired by Belkis’s love for Emely and her commitment that allows her to grow up in a loving family.
Maria, Wilson, and Emely are three of the twenty kids who have been reunified with their families from the orphanages over the last few weeks.
Your support has made it possible to change these kids' stories, allowing them to grow up with their empowered and loving families. We could not be more grateful to have you as part of this impact.
