What Happens When A Kid Can't Be Reunited To Their Parents?

When a kid can’t be reunited with their parents because their ongoing protection can’t be guaranteed, the best thing is to look for an extended family member instead of spending the rest of their childhood in an orphanage.

Often, grandparents, aunts or uncles, or other family are incredibly willing to take in these kids, but adding another kid or two comes with additional and unforeseen costs.

But, if we support these families with some of the things they need to provide a safe home for their grandkids, nieces, and nephews, it can be a simple investment that allows kids to grow up surrounded by the love of their family rather than in an orphanage.

That’s the case with Emilda (pictured), who is taking in her 15-year-old cousin!

We are helping her with essential repairs to her home, like a new roof, fixing a major plumbing problem, and covering essential medical costs for Emilda’s niece, to make the transition easier and make sure that their home meets all of the standards for her cousin.

Kids have families, and they are available to take in and care for their relatives, they may just need a bit of support to make the transition possible or easier, and we want to support them so that they can best support and love these kids.
