How Does Embraced Work With Families For Their Sustained Success?

Lorenzo and Victoria have always worked to care for their six kids, but a few years ago, it became hard for Lorenzo to find another stable job after he lost his job at a factory because of an injury. Rather than letting their family go hungry, he used the resources he had to find a way to provide for his family, even if that meant going to trash dump sites to collect recyclables to sell for cash.

Their six kids were taken to an orphanage last fall because they were reported to be living in extreme poverty. After working with their family and building a permanent home, their six kids returned home to their parents.

While doing follow-up visits after the reintegration, Lorenzo shared that he would love to start a business selling coconuts to provide their family with a better income and financial security. We began working with them on a business plan and gave them the initial investment and supplies to begin their business (a refrigerator, coolers, and the start-up costs to buy their first week of coconuts and other supplies)

The trailer that once hauled recyclables has gotten a complete makeover and now serves as his coconut business on wheels, where he can provide for their family's daily needs!

It is incredible to see the tangible change in Lorenzo and his new satisfaction and pride, knowing that he created a business that allows him to provide financially for his family while allowing him to feel more dignity each day when he gets up to go to work.

In the first month of selling coconuts, they have more than doubled their expected sales and have been able to use the profits to provide for their family and expand their small business to a second location.

Small, long-term investments that the family is committed to maintaining, like helping with a business plan for a small business and the capital to cover the start-up costs, are often all it takes to change the course of a family's long-term success without developing a dependency on an organization.

Thanks for investing in families so they can be their kid's long-term providers.
