Welcome Back Home!

We previously introduced you to this family that was displaced from their home and all of their belongings after being impacted by two hurricanes. In the months that they were living under an overpass before getting back into their flooded and mud-filled community, their youngest son (pictured above in the long-sleeve shirt) was separated from the family. When he was turned into the authorities, they found he was not registered (without a birth certificate on file), and he was therefore placed in an orphanage.

Our team met this family and were able to define the assistance they needed to get their son back, and after the last two months of working with this family and watching them take HUGE strides for the sake of their family…

We are celebrating that their son is BACK HOME from the orphanage where he has been living since February!

Friday morning was a sweet reunion filled with hugs, tears, and so many more hugs

After leaving the welfare office with the newly reunited family, our team arrived at their newly renovated home (thanks to you!)  with their SON! They were met by neighbors LITERALLY CHEERING in the street celebrating that he was back home, and three very excited siblings rushing to hug their brother!

This return home was only possible because of...

  • These parents, who have worked tirelessly to meet every requirement to get their youngest son back home, they are truly the heroes here!

  • The welfare office and the reintegration team that advocated for the best interest of this boy and provided all of the technical and legal support to make this reintegration possible!

  • The Embraced team that worked hand in hand with the family to find out their needs and how Embraced could best leverage our resources to empower them!

  • YOU! Every donor who has sacrificed financially so that kids, just like this one, can return home to their families.

(Our team will continue to work with this family for the next few months, continuing to provide trainings, and ensuring that the transition is going well!)

This is just the beginning of seeing more kids grow up with healthy and supportive families around them. We can’t wait for all of the welcome home parties that are to come because of your support to families just like this one!

*this family has given permission to share their pictures and parts of their story.
