Your Support’s Real-Life Impact For Suyapa!

A few months ago, we introduced you to Suyapa. After an incident that happened with her granddaughter while she was living with her mother, Suyapa had asked for her granddaughter to come home to live with her.

When we met Suyapa, we realized that living with her in her one-room house were three of her adult children and their children, a total of 13 people! While her house was certainly crowded, Suyapa was eager to add her granddaughter to their home because she didn't want her to have to grow up without a family.

The welfare office would not approve Suyapa's custody request simply because her home had too many people living in a room with not enough space or beds for the thirteen that already lived there, so they decided that adding another child would not be appropriate.

We returned to meet with Suyapa and her adult daughters, who live with her, and we learned how amazing of a family they are. They work so hard and all contribute to their family while loving their kids so well. Seriously, anyone who’s had the chance to meet Suyapa's grandkids within seconds can tell that these kids are smart, kind, funny, and LOVED.

After spending time with them, it was obvious that any kid would be blessed to grow up in such a loving family. All they needed was a bit of material support to come around the love they already have to make this reunification possible! So, we decided to support this multi-generational family with a home big enough to give them the space they needed, and for each family to have their own space and their own beds, for the first time in their lives!

We are so happy to share that their home is FINISHED, and they are all moved in!

Each family has their apartment, and although the size of their land was limited, we were able to build three apartments with six bedrooms so that each person now has their own space, painted with the colors that each family picked out. For the first time, they all have their own bed and a safe and secure home for their family.

We are waiting for the legal process for Suyapa's granddaughter's reintegration to be finalized, and she will be able to live with her family, where thirteen loving arms are waiting to welcome her home!

Thank you for supporting families like Suyapa. Without your financial support, this family would not have a home, beds, and Suyapa's granddaughter would likely spend the rest of her childhood in an orphanage. Your donation makes a multi-generational impact that changes the reality of right now and the future of so many people.
