Grandma Miriam’s granddaughter was reunited with her yesterday, just in time for Christmas!
After over a year of being separated from her family and living in an orphanage, she is FINALLY HOME with her grandmother and her little brother!
This beautiful family was reunited, and after the reintegration hearing, we asked Miriam how she was feeling, and she said she felt VICTORIOUS. After over a year of fighting for her granddaughter, she could finally take her home!
She said, “What WOULDN’T you do to get them back if it was one of your family members?”
And she has proved that true with her actions over the last year! She has...
Worked so hard throughout the legal custody process
Saved money through her business
Prepared a space for her to return home to
Researched to find a school that her grandaugher could attend
Received trainings and workshops
Traveled consistently to visit her in the orphanage that she was living in
and has not lost hope or determination to see her granddaughter back with family!
Miriam’s granddaughter didn’t know that her grandmother had a home being built and was THRILLED to see her new home, her bedroom, and everything that was waiting for her when she got home! (The welcome home party came fully intact with balloons in her bedroom that her grandma had set up!)
We will continue to walk with this family through the transition, working through follow-up visits, ongoing trainings, and continued education support as the new school year begins in Honduras in February!
